Requirements
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in trade
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation
Shall provide own hand tools
Must have dependable transportation
Must be able to follow instructions
Must be able to gain access to all work locations, including government and private shipyards and/or vessels.
First-Class Shipfitter, also referred to as a Journeyman Shipfitter or a Boilermaker, is responsible for various tools and equipment used in the fabrication, assembling and erection of metal components at the various stages in constructing a marine vessel.shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day. As with most every position in the shipyard, a Shipfitter may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time.
